Instagram became the outlet where I stumbled upon a black and white BTS photo of this model. I asked Art Personas her name and as quick as they responded, the admiration for her was also rapid. After that, her face is the image that I saw whenever I listen to Lana Del Rey’s music. Seeing her for the first time on the runway at Jerome Salaya-Ang F/W 2015 show for Manila Fashion Festival is just a #WOW moment. Up close, she resembles an Elizabethan portrait with a cross between Alice Burdeu and Natalie Westling.
As the models were leaving, I run swiftly and chased this diamond from the Art Personas board for a quick interview. With a makeup-free face, she answered the questions with her cool and energetic personality.
Is modelling really a dream of yours?
Yeah. Ever since I was kid you know.
Aside from being a model, how else do you want people to see you?
I’m actually taking up broadcast communication, so I’m student right now. Instead of being a model, it’s a chance for me to be seen on television.
What are your other hobbies or any activities that you engage in?
Currently, I’m into writing. I want to be a novelist din (also) someday.
Do you have a boyfriend right now?
Yes I do.
Is he supportive of what you are doing?
Yes very supportive. Two years in counting. He lets me go palagi kung saan kailangan pumunta (all the time in every location), tapos cheering lang sya (then cheers for me).
How were you discovered?
I started with a shoot with Julio Jeremias. The pinasok niya ako sa (he introduced me to) Art Personas. From Art Personas, then yun na (that’s it).
What is your trademark as a model?
Hmm… I guess it could be that even though I look fully foreign, talagang Pinay talaga (I’m very Filipina).
What can you say about the current trends in modelling here in the Philippines?
Sobrang nice naman (So far it’s nice). Di papatalo sa ibang bansa (At par with other countries).
What are the perks and disadvantages of being a model?
Well siyempre (ofcourse) the waiting game kapag may (when there are) shows. Tapos yung (then the) dead feet problems and stuff. Pero (but) seeing the photos online is such a relief.
Anything from you that you would like to share to the upcoming models?
To the new faces, I would say just keep on pursuing their dream. Don’t fall back and give it your best shot!
Bless the models!
