Magdalena Frackowiak on Panoplies – Editorial for Vogue Paris December 2014 issue

Before the catwalk superstars that we worship, there was Barbie. Remember those moments where a young aspiring fashionista would stroll at the toy store and wish for her fashionable life and friends? And when we get hold of that box, we would spend hours just to dress her up for an imaginary lunch date with Ken. All we know back then is that “life in plastic is fantastic”.

It seems that all of us including the Vogue Team share this nostalgic memory as the December 2014 issue of French Vogue relieved our fascination for the fashion icon in a box. Magdalena Frackowiak and Elizabeth Erm appeared on the editorial spread looking like plastic dolls minus the usual glittery package. They are styled similar to those we see on the shelf, wearing items form the designer whose name is printed on the box. The concept only shows that designer clothes and accessories are toys for the big girls (and gays).
