It’s all about the Supermodels, Supermodels and Supermodels! The advance preview of what is in store for the September issue cover wars this 2014 was released by Japanese Vogue. Move over celebs and singers as the publication welcomes back the original stars of magazine covers. A get-together of the best of the best runway cast which came into a three-fold cover, where each section shows the powerful model figures per decade. The makeup and styling get away from the usual avant mood and went back to the basics to emphasize the faces that made history. The concept also showed the transition of various model trends ranging from the audacious; 90’s quirk; and the edgy editorial.

The main cover boasts the Supermodels who started it all. During the approach of 21st century, the rise of the nameless models has threatened the existence of Supermodels, thus making their kind into what we call “endangered”.  But this epic reunion tells the world that “Supermodels are not dead”.  We are honoured to celebrate their mark on the business, with only few who somewhat measured up to their status these days (Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls).

My only con for this is that the editors missed some other notable names such as Cindy Crawford, Daria Werbowy, Carmen Kass, Liya Kebede, Alek Wek, Liu Wen, Hilary Rhoda? Well it’s pretty much impossible to swish all the top girls. However, there are others who also deserve the spot.

I know most of us are crazy for a model group shot issue  Maybe Vogue can consider a second take on the World’s next top model issue (Vogue US – May 2006) starring the distinguished crop of the moment? At the meantime, the enjoyment that we feel for this collectible issue is just soaring high. We are wondering on what is in store for the other editions of the fashion bible including other publications. For an obvious fact, Japanese Vogue has brought a serious competition.
